In addition to being a trained Newborn Care Specialist, I hold a Master's Degree in Education with a current CA credential. My parents have been married for 65 years, I am the eldest of 5, with a 21-year spread. I have literally been soothing babies for 5 decades.

Since middle school, I have had an interest in the growth and development of the human brain. Although newborns have not developed speech, they can be very clear in communicating their needs. I believe it is critical at this stage to fulfill those needs with the idea of developing a personality that is calm and connects easily with the world as it grows and develops. My own children are happy, grown adults with lives and careers of their own; in addition, I enjoy an amazing relationship with my 2 young granddaughters who bring me countless joy. Since my children were born, recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics have changed dramatically, I stay current with these recommendations. I am expert at calming and soothing babies, recognizing their cues, and being proactive to be prepared to meet their needs before they occur. This being said, I am not the parent and I respect your right as the parent to specify how things work in your home, what works best for you, and how you best see fit care for your baby. Every family is so different, and there are so many details where there is no "right" or "wrong" way. Although I am happy to provide guidance and to make recomendations, the "right" way is the way that works best for you.
