I studied at DONA INTERNACIONAL AND DOULA CARIBE INTERNACIONAL becoming the first certified Doula in Colombia. I implemented the first Doulas Volunteer Program in a public hospital, being the first hospital to employ Doulas in my native Colombia. Now based in the Bay Area, I bring my skills as a Perinatal and Postnatal Educator along with her experience in more than 400 births, educating more than 500 couples, and conducting numerous courses for parenthood. I believe that families deserve to be informed, empowered to make birth decisions and that their voices need to be heard and respected. I work comfortably within the hospitals and medical staff, as well as alongside homebirth Midwives.

I’m passionate about supporting families as they walk through life’s transitions that come with birthing and parenting children. My passion for understanding these aspects of making families has drawn me to doula work, where I feel I can offer my interests, skills and heart to support parents. I enjoy teaching yoga; holding space for expectant and new mothers is a very personal form of gratitude and respect for them.

I'm a birth and infant care nerd. My practice includes birthwork as a full spectrum doula, infant feeding support, and education. I've incorporated time-honored practices with current evidence-based care. These are all go-to tools I share with clients I serve. It's important to me to to be able to share information on their rights with my birth clients, review how they might choose to assert their rights during pregnancy and labor, and include those choices in their plans. In the US, some communities —including Black, Brown, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities— have been excluded from receiving equitable care and comforts while pregnant, while giving birth, and in the weeks and months after delivery. In my services, I actively challenge structural biases and systems that perpetuate disparities. All new parents and infants deserve access to comforts, safety, survival, respectful support and care. I engage so everyone who wants a doula receives the best-suited support for their journey.

Birth terrain inherently comes with unexpected twists and turns and I help you and your birth partner design a roadmap to meet them prepared and confident. In my practice, I utilize a multi-dimensional approach that promotes a healthy pregnancy and baby. We'll integrate a combination of relaxation techniques, comfort measures, mindset practices and wellness modalities with existing tools you already possess to customize a plan just for you. One that reflects your values, celebrates your strength and ensures your physical and energetic needs are met. Together, we’ll also create a holistic postpartum plan that emphasizes healing, rest, nourishment and space to bond with your baby.

I’ve been caring for newborns for over 5 years and in the recent two years I’ve decided to become a doula to be able to provide extra support for families as it’s a very crucial time. I’m also a mother to two girls ages 5 and 2 years old. I’m as well currently studying online to become a Registered Nurse specializing in labor and delivery. I grew up in Berkeley, California, and was raised by my lovely single mother, nanny, and grandparents. I always had a deep-rooted love for mamas and babies. As soon as I was old enough to provide childcare, I did, and still do, but now in the form of postpartum support. The summer before my junior year of college, I went through a traumatic hiking accident, which left me concussed and “out of commission” for some time. This experience opened doors of holistic healing for me that I have gladly stepped into and don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. Going through this, I discovered the power of herbalism, acupuncture, energy healing, and many more modalities! With the support of friends, family, healers, doctors and the newfound mindset that “my body has the wisdom to heal itself,” with intentional support, I did heal. I then returned to college to finish my degree in Anthropology, with emphases in Medical and Feminist Anthropology.

I am all about feeling prepared and feeling supported and heard. I mirror how I prepped for labor/childbirth and postpartum through my own personal experiences. I am also a mom of 2 sons and both with two very different experiences. I like to help my clients feel supported and cared for throughout their experience. I have assisted many women undergoing IVF treatments as well as many who have continued on becoming my birth clients and following them through pregnancy into parenthood with a smooth transition. I also offer child birth education courses which can be specifically tailored to each client. I do offer evidenced based information and believe in educating not only the birthing person but also their support person/persons in order to fully understand and know what to expect and how to further support throughout labor, delivery into postpartum.

My philosophy is that for the vast majority of women, birth works best when supported with patience and left to follow its own path with as little intervention as possible. By sharing information, providing encouragement and supporting their choices, I help women feel respected and listened to so they can look back on labor and birth as a positive and empowering experience.

Hello My name is Danielle I’m a Bay Area Native, I am a traveling doula that resides in Brooklyn, NY and Oakland, CA. I have been passionate about birth and supporting mothers for years. As soon as I heard the term and definition of what a “Doula” was, I knew this was supposed to be a part of my life’s journey. After doing extensive research on unnecessary interventions, c-section rates, and Black maternal deaths in the U.S., I began to see how needed Doula’s were in the birthing space. I decided to leave my career in sports to pursue my Divine calling as a Birthworker. I am here to help support and hold space for as many birthing people as I can in getting the birth experience THEY want. I am a professionally trained and certified Full Spectrum Doula. I am equipped to support and hold space with births, and postpartum care for the baby/birthing person. My goal is to leave you feeling empowered about your birth. To reclaim and own your body, your life, your experience. We are going to work together but I really want to have you know that the power that you're looking for and the information you are constantly searching for outside of yourself sometimes is already inside you, you know the answers and what feels aligned for you, your body and your baby.
